Movie Screening of "Stand Up Story"
Asia Insurance is delighted to share the highlights of our remarkable movie nights, Asia Night Viva, hosted exclusively for our valued business partners on 10 & 13 October 2023. The evenings were elevated with the screening of the captivating Hong Kong movie, "Stand Up Story" (說笑之人), a bittersweet comedy about surviving hardship.
We were honoured by the presence of the Director, Au Cheuk Man, and the Male Lead, Ng Siu Hin, from “Stand Up Story”, as they graciously shared their experiences and behind-the-scenes stories from the making of the movie. HKFI First GBA Virtual Job Fair
As a leading general insurer in Hong Kong, Asia Insurance recognised the immense potential of the vast talent pool within the Greater Bay Area and actively participated in the first GBA Virtual Job Fair, the first-ever industry-wide cross-border virtual job fair, organised by The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI). This landmark event was also supported by Labour and Welfare Bureau and co-organised by top-tier recruitment partners - Jobs DB, Zhaopin.com（智聯招聘）and KOS, attracting a massive turnout of over 39,000 attendees.
We are honoured to have our CEO & Executive Director, also the HKFI Governing Committee Member, Winnie Wong, delivered a welcome speech to kickstart the event. During the Job fair, our Head of Human Resources, Leonard Poon, took the opportunity to introduce our company and corporate culture. He emphasised our commitment to employee growth and development, sharing how we foster a diverse and inclusive working environment and showcasing the exciting career prospects available at Asia Insurance.

Asia (Northbound Travel) Private Car Insurance
A long-awaited scheme for Hong Kong’s private cars, “Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles” (the Scheme), is now opening for applications and will be officially implemented from 0:00 on 1 July 2023. Local private cars can travel across the border to Guangdong via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge on a short-term basis.
Before embarking on the journey, it is important to purchase the necessary motor insurance and fulfil the relevant insurance requirements of both Hong Kong and Mainland China. Hong Kong private car owners can purchase a Unilateral Recognition Policy from qualified Hong Kong insurers. The motor policy extends the coverage to include the statutory third-party liability motor insurance in Mainland China, allowing private car owners to buy just one policy covering both regions, rather than two separate policies.
Winnie Wong, CEO & Executive Director of Asia Insurance, suggested private car owners to carefully consider the insurance coverage and aftersales service support provided by the related Mainland insurers. “It is essential for private car owners to understand the capability, experience and network coverage of the Mainland insurance companies, such as whether they provide aftersales service inquiries, emergency support in case of accidents, and handle claims efficiently.” She added.

Insurance E-Summit 2022
Challenges brought by the pandemic have reshaped the future of HK insurance industry. Insurers have to invest more in their digital capabilities and strive for innovation in order to move ahead of industry peers and deliver sustainable profits.
VTC Insurance Training Board and Institute of Professional Education And Knowledge (PEAK) jointly organised the Insurance E-Summit on 11 November 2022 with the theme “The Future of Insurance in Hong Kong – Strategy and Innovation in the New Normal”, featuring insurance and financial experts to discuss the growth and development of insurance industry in the new normal.
We are honoured to have our CEO & Executive Director, also the Chairman of The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers, Ms. Winnie Wong, demonstrating the strong resilience of HK insurance industry in navigating the uncertainty. The premium income and insurance density recorded steady growth despite the pandemic.
She also introduced several supportive measures and development strategies being initiated by the government organisations and The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers. These competitive advantages and the strong fundamentals, robust financial system and unique position in GBA, make Hong Kong an ideal place for insurance businesses with ample growth opportunities.
Following the presentation, Winnie joined with other distinguished speakers for a panel discussion, having a fruitful exchange with one another on the insurance hot topics such as ESG, HK Insurtech development and talent retention etc.

With the growing digital generation, it is important for insurers to embrace digital opportunities and adopt new technologies in order to respond to the changing market expectations and meet tomorrow’s customer needs.
Our CEO & Executive Director Ms. Winnie Wong delivered a keynote address at the Digital Insurance Agenda (DIA) 2022, a leading InsurTech conference connecting and inspiring insurance executives and Insurtech leaders across the globe, organised in Munich.
Winnie kick-started her speech by giving a general introduction of Asia Insurance and Avo Insurance, sharing their market positioning, targeting, as well as the company goals. Handling the operation of an established insurance company along with a virtual insurance company at the same time is a challenging undertaking, Winnie shared her experience and struggle for running two vastly different insurance companies in Hong Kong and believed that both companies can benefit by learning from each other. The extensive digital experience in Avo can facilitate the digital transformation journey for Asia Insurance while Avo can benefit from the good industry practices of Asia Insurance.
To foster the development of the insurance business in Hong Kong, as the Chairman of The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI), Winnie presented the vibrant and innovative insurance landscape of Hong Kong, showing the commitment of the Hong Kong government to supporting the InsurTech development by introducing different programmes and funding schemes initiated by the government and Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority such as “Insurtech Sandbox”. In addition, with its business-friendly environment and well-established financial and legal system, Hong Kong has the unique role to serve as a gateway for multinational companies seeking to expand the Asia Pacific market. There are abundant commercialisation opportunities for the insurance businesses.

Official Launch of New VHIS Plan “Asia iCare”
Asia Insurance is delighted to collaborate once again with CUHK Medical Centre (“CUHKMC”) to launch the new VHIS plan “Asia iCare”. This is the first VHIS plan supported by the smart hospital in Hong Kong to offer full range of benefits coverage with the design idea inspired by the packaged plans of CUHKMC. Customers could enjoy real “Cashless” medical services and treatments as the pre-approved bills shall be settled by Asia Insurance directly.
To mark the official launch of “Asia iCare”, an official launch event was held on 30 November 2021 in a hybrid format. Orchestra "Hong Kong Enharmonica” and world champion harmonica player Mr. Gordon Lee have been invited to perform in live. Guests and participants enjoyed the event and had fruitful exchange with one another. Highlight of the event was captured in below.

For all travel insurance policies purchased from 12 March 2020, or for trips arranged on or after that date, any claims directly or indirectly caused by, arising out of, contributed to by, or resulting from Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) shall not be covered.
